My Purpose as expressed by those with more eloquence than I

“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”

- John Adams

"These are not the vapors of a melancholy mind, nor the effusions of envy, disappointed ambition, nor of a spirit of opposition to government, but the emanations of a hear that burns for its country's welfare. No one of any feeling, born and educated in this once happy country, can consider the numerous distresses, the gross indignities, the barbarous ignorance, the haughty usurpations, that we have reason to fear are meditating for ourselves, our children, our neighbors, in short, for all our countrymen and all their posterity, without the utmost agonies of hear and many tears."

-John Adams

"I do not stand here as advocate for any partisan cause, for the issues are fundamental and quite beyond the realm of partisan consideration. They must be resolved on the highest plane of national interest of our course is to prove sound and our future protected. I trust, therefore, that you will do me the justice of receiving that which I have to say as solely expressing the considered viewpoint of a fellow American. I address you with neither rancor nor bitterness...with but one purpose in mind - to serve my country."

-General Douglas MacArthur

I have spent most of the night working on individual cover letters for 10 different internships in Washington D.C., I am super excited about going, but it takes a lot of work to present myself and the perfectly wrapped intern package! Everything has to be flawless! Currently I am working on my application materials for The Heritage Foundation, a think-tank organization that researches conservative public policy solutions to our country's current problems and markets them to members of Congress, policymakers in the executive branch, the news media, and the academic and public policy communities. It is really exciting for me because The Heritage Foundation so strongly believes in basing their policies on free-enterprise, individual freedom, limited government, and traditional American values. Part of the reason I am starting this blog is so I can practice expressing my political thoughts and ideas in writing, since this skill will be necessary as an intern at an organization like Heritage. But most importantly, I want to personalize conservative principles and help inform and educate people on the values and beliefs that ring so true to me and that I hold so dear. I believe that if you can present those people who are in the dark when it comes to politics with true, simple, common sense politics, they will see the light and feel within themselves that it is true. The truth will set you free, and when we get a taste for it, we want more and seek after it. Hopefully my blog will serve as a source of enlightenment and truth:)
